News about this event

“Wait for 10 more minutes and we can enter!” “Two more minutes! One more minute!” several kids yelled with excitement, while waiting at the gate of the P+V Gallery for the Christmas party and Art Sprouts Exhibition to start.

The event held on Sunday, Christmas Day, was to celebrate what the kids have achieved over the past half year. All the art work on show was their efforts through the Art Sprouts program organized by the Cultural and Sports Center of Dalang Subdistrict Office and undertaken by the P+V Gallery and Handshake 302, an independent art space curated by a core group of five people.

The program, which is free for children aged 8 and over, is a half-year pilot art program held from June to December 2016. The target participants are the kids under the administration of Langkou, Dalang Sudistrict. Most of them are children of migrant workers in Dalang, Longhua.

Children of migrant workers face difficulties in integrating into city life. In some city people’s eyes, they might seem not as smart or versatile as city kids. However, that’s not the truth and the program aims to build up trust and a sense of belonging between the kids and the Dalang Community.

“These kids are very comfortable, very active and confident. I think one reason for that is the close relationship that they have with Mary Ann O’Donnell who is the P+V Gallery director, other teachers and the center,” said Marco Flagg, a photography teacher working with the program.

Flagg, who has worked with communities in America, Beijing, Shanxi and Shenzhen, was impressed by the relationship the center has with the local community.

“I know it’s so important to build that relationship which takes a lot of time and hard work. O’Donnell and everyone involved in these activities did a great job as did the kids because they also decided to come and get involved. Without a good relationship, the kids won’t be motivated to come to the class and to finish everything,” said Flagg.

According to O’Donnell, altogether there are 30 kids who have benefited from the program and a dozen of them stick to the activities all the time.

After the half-year program, O’Donnell said what impressed her most was the change in the kids. “At the beginning, they copied others’ work or asked us whether their work was done in the right way or not. But now they are very confident about their creation.”

O’Donnell said another change is that the kids, a bit shy at the beginning, are now willing to share and cooperate with other children. Some kids are also helping with cleaning and taking care of the flowers at the gallery as their relationship with the center grows.

Mao Min, a 13-year-old-girl whose parents run a shop selling bearings in Dalang, said she really enjoyed the activities of the program.

“I like the activities here. I will join again if they are going to hold it next year. It has brought us a lot of fun and we love it here. O’Donnell has been organizing the activities with us for a long time and we all love her,” said Mao.

Mao also said that it was the first time she has communicated with foreign teachers, which was a new experience for her. “At the beginning, I was a bit nervous. But then I learned that they could speak Chinese and they are very nice. Gradually I began to feel relaxed and started to enjoy communicating with them.”

The P+V Gallery, the venue for the program, is a restored historic church and school in Dalang, an industrial area located in Longhua. Established by the Basel Mission in 1891, the school was known as the Pious Virgins Longheu Girls’ School, hence the name of the gallery — the P+V.

The Pious Virgins Longheu Girls’ School was once a missionary school only for girls. Later, it began also enrolling boys. In 2007, it was listed as a district-level cultural relic protection site.

Although the school is now no longer in operation, the P+V Gallery, which is not affiliated with any religion, carries on the mission of passing down culture and history.

Since June 18 this year, the P+V Gallery has served as a museum and the location of the Art Sprouts arts enrichment program.

According to O’Donnell, the art program, a pilot one this time, will continue next year, though the agreement hasn’t been signed yet.

Barcelona and Real Madrid both face difficult starts to 2017 after drawing Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla respectively in the Copa del Rey on Friday.

Barca and Madrid eased into the round of 16 with huge wins against lower league opposition in Hercules and Cultural Leon, but they face tougher tests in the next round against two teams doing well in La Liga.

Sevilla have made an impressive start under Jorge Sampaoli and their two-legged tie against Madrid at the start of the year will be followed by a league game against Zinedine Zidane’s side on Jan. 15.

The first leg of their Copa del Rey game will be at the Santiago Bernabeu, meaning Madrid will then have back-to-back trips to the Sanchez Pizjuan following their La Liga game against Granada.

Athletic are not riding as high as Sevilla in the table — the two sides are seventh and third respectively — but have always proven difficult opposition for Barca, who have won the Copa del Rey in the last two seasons.

Aaron Mooy, Huddersfield Town news: Socceroos midfielder stars again in Championship

SOCCEROOS midfielder Aaron Mooy has again been lavished with praise after he put in another man-of-the-match display for Huddersfield Town.

Defeating Nottingham Forest 2-1 in the EFL Championship, the come-from-behind result pushed Huddersfield into fourth spot, seven points behind leaders Newcastle United.

Throughout the game, Mooy was everywhere and unlucky not to score at the half hour mark as Hudderfield sought an equaliser.

They had gone behind in the 25th minute when former Arsenal man Nicklas Bendtner made Huddersfield pay, but Mooy’s role in the centre of the park had fans purring, and not for the first time.

As the Aussie continued to dominate the game, Huddersfield found an equaliser in the 53rd minute through Kyle Palmer.

Mooy crossed a short corner for Palmer, whose header came back off the bar, who then forced the ball home after a scramble in the box.

Huddersfield kept up the pressure and won it in the 59th minute with a goal which had an element of good fortune about it.

Van La Parra was attempting a cross when Forest defender Michael Mancienne slid in to block, but only succeeded in deflecting the ball into his own net.

“[Mooy] is the best player I have seen in 40 plus years watching Town,” said one fan post-game, while another revelled in his physics-defying ability to spray the ball around with precision.

Fans en masse voted Mooy as the player of the game, giving him an 8.8 out of 10 rating in the Huddersfield Examiner, with the next best player getting a 7.4 score.

UFC 207 Weigh in/PPV Event

Ronda Rousey and Amanda Nunes will go head to head in Las Vegas on Saturday evening.

Rousey returns to the Octagon for the first time since her defeat to Holly Holm in November 2015 against Nunes, who has won 13 of her 17 professional bouts.

The main talking point has been Ronda Rousey’s total media blackout.

One of the UFC’s most talkative stars in days gone by, Rousey has totally shunned all the press in the build-up to this one, even refusing an interview when appearing at the UFC 207 weigh-in, with reports suggesting she needed ‘consolling’ backstage after squaring off with Amanda Nunes.

Her vow of silence continued tonight. Follow how the public weigh-in went down LIVE below.

Portugal – League Cup FEEDS

Victor Lindelof’s proposed move to Manchester United could be back on following reports he was left off the team sheet for Benfica’s Portuguese League Cup clash with FC Pacos de Ferreira amid claims an Old Trafford move is imminent.

Leading up to the January transfer window, a £42 million transfer to United had been considered all-but-done. However, recent reports have suggested that Jose Mourinho’s interest has waned given the form of Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones.

Mourinho, though, is still eager to boost his defensive options and The Daily Mirror reports how the 22 year-old is exactly the talent to boost the ranks.

World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in Canada

For Wild fans, there was a lot of excitement surrounding this matchup between Team USA and Team Russia, as it would pit three of Minnesota’s top prospects, Luke Kunin and Jordan Greenway for USA and Kirill Kaprizov for Russia, against one another for the first time. Kaprizov entered the game as the leading scorer in the tournament, with seven points in just two games, including a hat trick against Latvia. The dynamic forward, on pace for one of the best under-20 seasons in the history of the KHL, is a potential all-world player. When his current contract expires in Russia, the Wild organization will surely pull out all the stops to ensure that he gets signed to his entry-level deal immediately. And for fans of Team USA in general, there was also a lot of excitement surrounding this game, as it would be the first real test for the Americans against a powerful hockey nation in this year’s World Junior Championship. Team Russia entered the game with one win (Latvia) and one loss (Canada), while USA had won both of its games (Slovakia and Latvia). This game would certainly live up to the hype.

Russia came within a couple inches of scoring just two minutes into the game, when a puck bounced off the end wall, hit the rear end of USA goaltender Tyler Parsons, and nearly trickled across the goal line. It was a quick reminder that the Americans would not be able to glide through this one, as they had against Latvia and Slovakia. The US seemed to be taking a more cautious approach early, keeping a forward high in the offensive zone to prevent the odd-man rushes that they gave up frequently in their opening game. It would pay off early, as Russia attacked with speed a few times in the opening minutes, but any opportunities off the rush were snuffed out by good retreats back into the defensive zone. USA also got the scoring started early, when Casey Fitzgerald fired a pass all the way from the bottom of the right circle to the bottom of the left circle, where Boston University’s Clayton Keller, who has starred for the US so far in the tournament, received the pass and took advantage of Russian goaltender Ilya Samsonov sliding across the crease, as he anticipated a quick shot from Keller. Keller opted to hold the puck, though, and made a move to his backhand that completely fooled Samsonov and left the net wide open. Keller deposited the puck in the back of the net while falling to the ice, a beautiful goal for the future Arizona Coyote, and a perfect start for the United States. Samsonov would weather a huge US storm over the next five minutes though, as the Americans peppered him with several point-blank shots and prime scoring chances.

Russia was very fortunate to maintain just a 1-0 deficit as the game reached the ten-minute mark, with the US having already registered fifteen shots on goal by that point in the period. Samsonov held off the US for just long enough to allow his team to level the score. After Greenway flattened an opponent at the red line, Russia gained control of the puck in the neutral zone, and Yakov Trenin streaked into the offensive zone along the right half wall. He lofted the puck in front of the net, to where Greenway was battling with Kirill Urakov, but the puck bounced off of Urakov and over the leg of Parsons, tying the game for Russia, and sending the teams to the dressing room for the first intermission.

Team USA would be the first to score in the second frame as well. Four minutes into the period, with the US on the power play, Charlie McAvoy sent a puck toward the Russian net, which was deflected and slowly fluttered toward Samsonov. Greenway was right in front of the goaltender, and clearly took away his eyes, as the puck bounced off of Samsonov’s pad and straight to red-hot Colin White, who was on the doorstep and calmly slid it into the wide open net. Several minutes later, just after killing off its first penalty of the game, Erik Foley would fire a pass from the corner, which the University of Denver’s Troy Terry would neatly deflect from the top of the crease to give Team USA its first two-goal lead of the game. A couple minutes after Terry’s goal, Greenway made a beautiful saucer pass to line-mate Jeremy Bracco, but Samsonov robbed Bracco with perhaps the save of the tournament, rolling on his back and throwing his left pad up in the air to deny the Maple Leafs’ prospect. It apparently picked the Russian squad up a bit, because when they went on the man advantage soon after the Samsonov robbery, Kaprizov deflected a wrist shot from Yegor Rykov out of the air, beating Parsons and pulling Russia within one goal yet again. It was Kaprizov’s fifth goal of the tournament.

The third period turned into a true goalie duel, as Parsons made several game-saving stops on Kaprizov and company. Samsonov was equally stout at the other end, denying a barrage of power play shots. He even turned away a Tage Thompson penalty shot in the final two minutes, when Sergei Zborovsky deliberately and obviously pushed the net off its moorings during a scramble in front of the net. It was Parsons with the last laugh though, as in the closing seconds of the game, Kaprizov lofted a perfect area pass to the slot for teammate Alexander Polunin. Parsons made an enormous save on Polunin to seal the victory for Team USA, and he finished the game with 25 saves.

Kunin and Greenway were two of the best players on the ice for the US on Thursday, with Kunin making an impact on seemingly every aspect of the American game, including the power play, penalty kill, and being responsible on the defensive end of the ice. Greenway played like an absolute beast, using his big size to impart his will on the Russian defense. Meanwhile, Kaprizov lived up to his billing by scoring yet another goal and producing at least five quality scoring chances in the game. He may be an elite player in the NHL in just a couple of years. Get ready, Wild fans, because this guy is special.

The US passed its first big test, and its hope for a medal should be on the rise. They are definitely skilled, have solid goaltending, and they defeated a very good Russian team with a tenacious effort on Thursday. Team USA closes out its preliminary schedule on Saturday, when it takes on Canada at 2:30PM Central. USA will have a chance to win its group and take one of the top seeds into the Quarterfinals, should it find a way to beat the favored Canadians.

Stan Wawrinka said he has buried the hatchet with Nick Kyrgios and backed the controversial Australian to rise up the rankings and win “big tournaments.”

Kyrgios was banned for three weeks and slapped with a big fine in October for his antics during a defeat to Mischa Zverev at the Shanghai Masters.

The world number 13 has gained a reputation as a pantomime villain, with one of his lowest moments coming when he made an inappropriate comment to Wawrinka about his girlfriend Donna Vekic during a match at the Montreal Masters last year.

Wawrinka described Kyrgios’ sledge as “unacceptable” and said he would not have come out with such a remark to his worst enemy, but the US Open champion stated that he has put that incident behind him.

Asked if there are any hard feelings between the two, the three-time grand slam champion said: “Not that I know of.”

Kyrgios is set to return to ATP Tour action next month after serving his ban and world number four Wawrinka expects the 21-year-old to show what he is capable of before long.

“He is a strong player, we all know how difficult he can be,” said the Swiss. “It’s tough to speak for everybody. For me, I see him as a strong and tough player.

“All I can say is that when he is playing well, when he wants, he is really dangerous.”

He added: “I am sure he will win big tournaments, He deserves to be 13th in the world. I am sure he will be even higher and will be there for many, many years.

“I am sure if he did a good off-season he is going to be tough to beat at the Australian Open, Because I am sure he wants to do well [in Melbourne] – he wants to win. It will be interesting to see.”

Phil Taylor faces a fine for swearing on live TV after booking a shoot-out to rival William Tell against Robin Hood.

The ‘Power’ marched into the William Hill PDC World Championship quarter-finals to set up a meeting with old foe Raymond van Barneveld – almost 10 years to the day since their sudden-death epic at the Circus Tavern.

Taylor missed seven match darts before completing his 4-2 win against chest-beating, Power-baiting Belgian Kim ‘Hurricane’ Huybrechts.

But he turned the air blue in his post-match interview with commentator Wayne Mardle, who asked him why he had played so poorly in the previous round against Kevin Painter.

He will be referred to the Darts Regulatory Authority, who are likely to hit him in the pocket – although Taylor’s outburst was after the watershed and you’ll hear worse most nights down the pub.

But that’s enough bad language: Let’s get ready for a Barney rumble tonight – and if it’s half as good as that heady evening in Purfleet on New Year’s Day in 2007, we’re in for a treat.

Taylor has won 56 of his 76 meetings with Van Barneveld down the years, and nothing could be better to ring out 2016 before the nation retreats into communal detox.

Australian cricketers on the verge of making it to national squads and the Big Bash League are being targeted by bookmakers via social media. Cricket Australia head of integrity Iain Roy confirmed that foreign bookmakers are targeting players via tools such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook as they seek information on squads and playing conditions.

Roy has told News Corp Australia that approaches have been quite common this summer. “We’ve had a number of approaches made on social media to players already this season,” Roy said. “Twitter approaches asking for information about team selection, pitches and that sort of thing.”

Rising young stars of the game are the main target, Roy revealed, but he would not elaborate on how many players had been targeted. Roy said cricketers in all forms of the game had been briefed not to reply to suspicious online approaches and report the behaviour to the game’s governing body.

“Australian cricket has a long-standing, proactive approach to sports integrity management,” a Cricket Australia spokesman said in a statement. “We are well aware of various methods that can be used to bring the integrity of the game into question, and combat these in a proactive way.”

While there’s been no specific evidence or links suggested to Australian cricket, no-one can afford to be complacent about these issues and we need to remain vigilant. Cricket Australia takes a zero-tolerance approach against anybody trying to bring the game’s credibility into disrepute. All players in Australia are required to complete an anti-corruption education session each season before they can compete in CA’s domestic competitions, including the BBL.”

“Players are also able to report any suspicions they have on a confidential basis and in the past there has been a strong Australian player culture to do so.”

Ictimai TV

İctimai Television Logo

İctimai Television (Azerbaijani: İctimai Televiziya, “Public Television”) Azerbaijani pronunciation: [itʃtimɑˈi teleˈvizijɑ] or İTV is a public television channel in Azerbaijan. It began broadcasting on 29 August 2005 after being created by law in 2004 as the first independent public broadcaster in Azerbaijan. The channel is based in Baku.

İTV is primarily funded through advertising and government payments.[2][3] The 2004 law creating the channel called for funding to come from a television licence fee beginning in 2010, but this portion of the law has yet to be implemented.

The channel is operated by the Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (Azerbaijani: İctimai Televiziya və Radio Yayımları Şirkəti), which consists of a nine-member council, whose members are approved by the President of Azerbaijan, and a director general elected by the council and also approved by the president. This arrangement, as well as the continued state financing, has been subject to criticism by non-governmental organizations on the grounds that the channel may be too closely connected to the government to be fully independent and unbiased.

İTV became a member of the European Broadcasting Union on 5 July 2007, allowing it to take part in events such as the Eurovision Song Contest, which it entered for the first time in 2008.[10] Following Azerbaijan’s win in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011, İTV hosted the 2012 competition in Baku. The broadcaster was also supposed to host the Third Eurovision Dance Contest in Baku, but this event was postponed indefinitely due to a lack of participants.

It is available on 2 satellites and same biss key is being used for both.

AZ TV

AzTV or Azerbaijan Television (Azerbaijani: Azərbaycan Televiziyası) is a state-controlled national television channel in Azerbaijan. It is the oldest television channel in the country, having first broadcast from Baku on 14 February 1956 in what was then the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic.

The channel has been owned since 2005 by the Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting Closed Joint-stock Company (Azerbaijani: Azərbaycan Televiziya və Radio Verilişləri Qapalı Səhmdar Cəmiyyəti), of which the national government is the only shareholder. This company also owns the channels İdman Azərbaycan TV (Sport Azerbaijan TV) and Mədəniyyət TV (Culture TV).

In 2007, an application by AzTV to join the European Broadcasting Union was rejected after the channel was found to be too closely associated with the ruling government.

Programming on AzTV primarily consists of news, talk shows, documentaries, music shows, and feature films.
